FAQ
1.What is London’s Star System?
This is the system that ranks hotels according to amenities and features. One and two star hotels are cheaper but offer just the basic services, with prices starting at 50 pounds a day. Three star hotels are “tourist class” and usually have private bathrooms, telephones, and televisions. You also can avail of food at restaurant and bar. Four star hotels offer superior comfort and service, with air conditioning and fine furnishing. However, prices are double that of one and two star hotels. Five star hotels are top quality, but at top prices too. Don’t be surprised if a twin room will demand as much as two hundred and fifty pounds.
2. Does it matter how many people stay in one room?
Some hotels will charge more if the head count exceeds the number of people typically designated to stay in that room. You may also have to pay for an extra bed.
3.Aside from hotels, where can I stay?
If you’re on a tight budget, consider finding accommodations in vacation rentals, dormitories and pension. Staying at a vacation rental, for example, lets you use a kitchen and cook your own meals—that’s tremendous savings from having to eat out all the time. If you are going to London during the time students go on vacation, some universities also rent out dormitories. Don’t forget the charming bed and breakfasts, which have lower rates than hotels and offer very personalized services.
